The First 50 “Transparency Advocates”

I am happy to announce the first 50 “Transparency Advocates.” Among this initial group of 50 Advocates are 19 former SEC Staffers.

The Transparency Advocates consist of a group of well-known disclosure drafters and disclosure readers. These influential people believe in the “Five Pillars of Transparency,” knowing good disclosure drafters help reduce liability risk and improve a company’s business reputation.

Here’s a reminder about what the “Five Pillars of Transparency” include:

  1. Accessibility – Readers can quickly find pertinent information in a document and information is presented in a manner that is easy to digest.
  2. Precision – The disclosure prioritizes thoughtful reporting and includes critical information beyond requirements of compliance that helps readers understand the company.
  3. Comparability – Information is summarized appropriately and presented in a way that facilitates comparisons across companies and against readers’ own guidelines, criteria and expectations.
  4. Availability – Readers can easily find the document(s) they want in the format and language they need. Readers should be able to get the information when they need it, and not way later.
  5. Clarity – Writing is in clear, plain language so that disclosures are immediately understood by the reader.
