Best Form 10-K of ’24: Why ConocoPhillips Stands Out

Objectively applying the 28 transparency criteria for the Form 10-K during our “Transparency Awards” process, ConocoPhillips won best Form 10-K this year after coming in second last year. Here’s their 2024 Form 10-K.

Bearing in mind again that the criteria are objectively applied, here are five reasons – among many others – why the company’s Form 10-K is so fine:

  1. The Form 10-K is ahead of the curve with key disclosures. For example, in the human capital management section, the company goes above requirements and provides global workforce statistics on gender and race on page 17. The company also details employee hiring and attrition metrics like this:

2. Every page footer or header includes the company’s name, document title and year and relevant section.

3. The document contains a Glossary of Terms or Key Word Index – as well as a set of “Commonly Used Abbreviations”:

4. There is an interactive version that includes links to navigate to – and from -sections of the document, including a table of contents.

5. The Form 10-K includes a secondary color.
